Minimum decision record
Best side by side starts with a complete requirement brief
There is no universal best configuration. The useful choice is the one whose operating basis, ratings, evidence and delivered scope match your stated task. This brief separates mandatory inputs from alternatives that suppliers may propose.

Resolve four comparison risks before accepting alternatives
Family maximum versus quoted unit
Write required payload, cargo-box load, towing capacity and tongue weight in lb or kg. Ask the supplier to state the offered seating and accessory configuration plus the assumptions behind each value. Do not transfer a maximum from a different model or option package.
Nominal energy versus usable duty
For electric proposals, record nominal and usable battery capacity, connector, charge power and the test cycle behind range. Add your load, terrain, speed, climate and charging window so the evaluator can examine the gap between test conditions and real use.
Vehicle price versus landed procurement scope
Set quantity, currency, destination and Incoterm first. Compare vehicle, customization, inspection, documents, packing, inland transport, freight, duty and destination services as separate lines. An excluded cost stays visible instead of disappearing behind a headline price.
Series document versus exact configuration
List the model year and exact vehicle category that documents must cover. FMVSS, EPA or other files need qualified destination review. For used vehicles, require VIN, odometer or hours, title status, dated condition images and inspection evidence at unit level.
A repeatable review method
Step 1: freeze the duty, mandatory configuration, units and delivery basis. Step 2: request a supplier response beside every field. Step 3: mark supplied evidence, exceptions and unanswered points. Step 4: ask the buyer's technical, commercial and destination reviewers to accept or reject each deviation. This process makes the comparison reproducible without inventing performance data or pre-rating suppliers.
Budget remains optional. If provided, state the amount or range, currency and per-unit or total-order basis. A high-end, mid-range, economical or undecided preference describes the buyer's trade-off between finish, customization, cost and service; it is not a verified supplier tier.
Send the brief with unknowns clearly marked
You do not need an existing quotation. Include the operating task, configuration, quantity, destination, requested timing and evidence requirements; candidate factories can then answer the same purchasing question.
